CROATIA

With thousands of miles of stunning Adriatic Coastline and over 1,000 islands; Croatia makes for an excellent beach holiday destination. Just a short plane trip from London; Croatian cities such as Split and Zagreb provide relatively easy access to Croatia's many beach resorts. The weather on the Croatian Coast is hot and almost tropical in the summer; with warm nights and humid air. In the winter, Croatia's beaches are still accessible with a mild climate and temperatures rarely dropping below 10 degrees Celsius.

  

The most beautiful and isolated of Croatia's beaches can be found on its many islands in the Adriatic Sea. There are nearly 2,000 islands off of the coast of Croatia, though most are tiny and uninhabitable, there are still many which are accessible by day and almost 20 which include tourist resorts.

  

Up until recently, these islands were the private summer residence of President Tito and his invited guests who have included Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Sophia Loren. In the early 1980s, these islands were declared a National Park and were subsequently open to the public. There is a safari park and several Roman ruins on the islands, though only a handful of hotels. There is a daily ferry from Fazana to Veliki Brijuni.
